The Israeli Fund for UNICEF (IFU) is one of UNICEF's 36 national committees, whose mission is to fund-raise for UNICEF's programs around the world and advocate for child rights both internationally and domestically. In Israel, the IFU is engaged in a wide range of advocacy initiatives that benefit Israeli children including lobbying for an independent Ombudsman for children; actively engaging with the Knesset Committee for Children’s Rights; partnering with the Ministry of Education to disseminate the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) principles to all schools in Israel including via nationwide youth groups; providing capacity building to the Ministry of Welfare and the Ministry of Justice in their CRC reporting work; and leading the NGO community in the preparation of an alternative report on CRC implementation. In recent years, UNICEF has also funded various initiatives in Israel such as psycho-social programs for children in Sderot and Kiryat Shmona who were impacted by the conflict.
For over 60 years UNICEF has been the world’s leader for children, working on the ground in 190 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence. The world’s largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is apolitical and is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.
Our Vision for the Future
Today, UNICEF Israel is strengthening the foundations that will support its growth. This gives you a unique opportunity to make a tri-fold contribution: By investing in the development of UNICEF in Israel and supporting its growth into an active member of the UNICEF family, you will enable UNICEF Israel to leverage your contribution for children in Israel and around the world. You will also directly contribute to making Israel an active partner in the global cause for children and a member of this global humanitarian community. UNICEF Israel recognizes its founding donors as long-term partners and these donors receive special thanks and recognition as investors in the futures of children and in changing Israel’s role in the humanitarian community.
